The Corporate Edition includes print and scan drivers for computers running Windows 2000, Windows XP (32/64 bit), Windows Vista (32/64 bit), and Windows 2003 Server (32/64 bit). These drivers, ideal for enterprise or corporate users, are Microsoft WHQL compliant and provide a customized, small-footprint software solution.
With this solution, an administrator can create a self-extracting executable that unpacks the Corporate Edition files into an installable folder. Using common, installation-management software, the administrator can then repackage the installation, as needed, based on the type of installation desired. (For more information about using your installation-management software, see the documentation that came with the software.)
Note: This repackaged installation requires that the user have administrative rights. Also, with the RunAs feature (available in Windows XP and above), a user can run the installation using administrator credentials.
The Corporate Scan Application Edition provides basic scanning software for computers running Windows XP (32 bit), Windows Vista (32/64 bit), and Windows 2003 Server (32/64 bit). Users can run the Scan Document program by double-clicking a desktop shortcut and then configuring scan settings in the window that appears.
The Corporate Edition includes the following components:
In addition, a WIA scan driver is available for Windows XP and above.
The Corporate Scan Application Edition includes the following components:
Many features in the full, retail
solution are disabled or unavailable while using the Corporate Edition. The
following functions from the standard software package included on the Starter
CD are not available in the Corporate Edition or the Corporate Scan Application
Edition:
To use any of these features,
install the full software solution included with the product.
Before you install the Corporate Edition, make sure the computer meets the following requirements:
Minimum system requirements
Note: If your computer has less than 128 MB of RAM, installation is possible. However, you might notice delays when scanning from third-party applications. Also, a warning message is entered into the install log file that the minimum system requirements have not been met.
Supported operating systems
Note: After installing the Corporate Edition on a computer running Windows 2000, it is highly recommended that you restart the computer.
Privilege requirements
The person installing the software MUST have administrative or elevated privileges to install the Corporate Edition. You can also use the “RunAs” feature available in Windows XP and above to run the installation using administrator credentials.
Downloading and preparing the software
1. Download the web package from www.hp.com.
2. After the web package is downloaded, double-click the file to extract its contents.
Note: For more information about repackaging, see the documentation that came with the installation-management software you are using.
Installing a new
device
Use one of the following options to install the software.
Note: If you have already installed the device software using the Starter CD included with the device, you must uninstall this software using the uninstall program provided by HP before you can install the Corporate Edition. For more information, see the “7. Uninstall other All-in-One software” section.
Option 1: Running Setup/MSI installer first (Recommended)
New devices can be installed using this method.
1. Run setup.exe from the package.
2. Run the MSI installer provided with the package. Useful when deploying the application through Active Directory.
Direct Connect (USB): After all the installation screens have disappeared, connect the device into the computer.
Option 2: Plug in device first
The computer launches the “Found New Hardware Wizard” after the device is connected to the computer. When prompted for a printer driver, select the root directory of the decompressed package. The software installation begins silently (in the background) after the installation.
Note:
· It is recommended that this installation method is performed using an administrator account.
· If you are logged in as a restricted user on a computer running Windows 2000, you cannot use this method.
Installing additional
devices
Connect the additional device
Direct Connect (USB): Use this method when connecting other supported devices to the computer. The printer icon will be automatically created.
Available command-line options
A command-line option can be used
in the following ways:
Example:

Unlike the standard software
package, the Corporate Edition has no interface. Instead, scanning is supported
through TWAIN-compliant or WIA-compliant programs, such as Microsoft Word,
Adobe Photoshop®, or Corel® CorelDraw. While
you are in a TWAIN- or WIA-compliant program, you can gain access to the
scanning feature and scan an image directly into the program.
Generally, a software program is
TWAIN or WIA compliant if it has a command such as Acquire, File Acquire, Scan, Import New Object, Insert
from, or Scanner. Also, start
the scan from within the TWAIN- or WIA-compliant program.
If you are unsure whether the
program is compliant or you do not know what the command is called, see the
software program Help or documentation for information about the commands and
steps to use.
Many possible installation and upgrade scenarios exist; many of these scenarios have been tested by HP. However, due to the large number of compatibility possibilities, you might encounter problems with coexistence, compatibility, or functionality when more that one version of HP software is installed on the same computer.
If compatible drivers are already installed on the computer, the computer might automatically restart during the installation. This is normal and does not affect the success of the install.
If a Full or Custom installation of the standard software package has been installed on the computer, the installation of the Corporate Edition is blocked. To install the Corporate Edition, first uninstall the standard software package, and then install the Corporate Edition.
The Corporate Edition can co-exist with other HP devices (such as HP Officejet and HP PSC devices). However, you cannot connect two HP Officejet devices to the same computer (one with the HP Photosmart software and one with the Corporate Edition) for most of the current HP products.
To avoid possible compatibility problems, it is highly recommended that previous versions of Corporate Edition or enterprise solution software be uninstalled before installing the latest version. You must restart the computer after uninstalling the previous versions or the latest version will not be installed properly.
Some previous versions of the Corporate Edition should not be installed over this version. If you decide to install an older version of Corporate Edition, uninstall the newer version first, and then install the older version.
Installing the software through User
Configuration Group Policies in Windows 2000 Server
If software deployment has been configured through User Configuration
Group Policies in Windows 2000 Server, the following message appears when
the HP software is installed on the client computer: “Setup completed
successfully”. To successfully complete the installation, click OK
in this dialog box.
After you click Properties or Preferences in the Print dialog box, you might experience a delay before the HP Officejet dialog box appears. This behavior is normal.
Before you upgrade
the OS
If you plan to upgrade the operating system of the computer connected to the device (for instance, from Windows 2000 to Windows XP Professional), uninstall the software and disconnect the device before you upgrade the operating system.
Issues after
uninstalling similar products
You can install and uninstall the device on a computer that has HP digital imaging products installed (such as HP Photosmart printers, HP Scanjet scanners, or HP cameras). However, if you uninstall these products later, some shared files might be deleted. If this happens, you will need to re-install the Corporate Edition.
Restart system after
installation
You must restart the computer after installing the software in Windows 2000. It’s not necessary to restart after installing the software in Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 2003 Server. However, in some cases, restarting is necessary to ensure that the software functions properly.
Microsoft Office
When scanning from within
Microsoft Word using the Insert
option on the File menu, the device
only scans documents placed on the scanner glass. Documents loaded in the ADF
are not scanned, or only the first page is scanned. To scan using the ADF,
select the Custom Insert option on
the File menu instead.
Microsoft Word
In Windows 2000, Microsoft Word might not open correctly after the Corporate Edition is installed. To run Word correctly, restart the computer.
To uninstall the corporate drivers, do one of the following:
From the Start menu, select Programs, select the option for the appropriate version of the Corporate Edition that you want to uninstall, and then click Uninstall.
-or-
Use the Add/Remove Programs utility from the Control Panel in Windows.
Note: After the uninstallation process has been started, it runs in silent mode, requiring no interaction.
If you have already installed the device software using the Starter CD, you must uninstall this software before you can install the Corporate Edition.
Note: To uninstall the device software, use the uninstall program provided with the software. Do not just delete the program files.
