Manually Change Wireless Settings

Why do I need to change my wireless settings?

If you don't change your computer's wireless settings, you will not be able to communicate with the printer and will not be able to configure it. Unless you change your computer's settings, it will still be communicating with your existing wireless network. But the wireless printer that you need to configure is on its own Ad Hoc network (called "hpsetup"). To configure that printer, you need to change your computer to the printer's network -- temporarily. (You will change your computer back to its original network after the Wizard completes.)

Note: Be sure to write down your wireless settings before changing them.

To change settings using the wireless network card utility: Click Start, point to Programs or All Programs, and select the network card utility to make your changes.

To change settings using Windows XP: If you are using the Windows XP operating system, you can reconfigure your computer's wireless settings directly from Windows XP instead of using the wireless network card's utility.

Note: To restore your computer's ability to communicate on your network after the Wizard has completed, you will need to rerun your network interface card utilities and manually restore your computer's wireless settings for your network.
